Release date announcement! [Spoiler: This month!]
almost 4 years ago – Sun, May 08, 2022 at 03:44:38 PM

It’s the moment you’ve all been waiting for…

Corpse Girl has cracked open the sarcophagus of secrets and is finally ready to reveal CORPSE FACTORY’s release date.

The game will be released on PC on May 31 (PDT)!

This release includes the Steam version as well as the DRM-free version selected by some backers.

The game is fully compatible with gamepads, as well as traditional keyboard/mouse input. If you’re playing on Steam, you can also unlock Steam Achievements and take advantage of Steam Cloud features. Plus, trading cards will be coming shortly after launch!

So, when is the Nintendo Switch version coming out…?

Soon! We’re working hard on this version and putting the final touches on it. This version of the game is reliant on a few important external factors, such as Nintendo approval and testing, as well as various age rating agencies. The game has been age rated for most territories, but we need to re-submit to New Zealand for an updated rating before release.

We’ll share an updated Nintendo Switch release date as soon as we have it.

What’s happening with Kickstarter rewards?

Backers who have selected the PC version of the game will receive their game codes to claim on release day.

Backers who have selected the Nintendo Switch version will need to wait a little longer until this particular version has been released. If you’re eager to sink your teeth into the game, and want to swap your Nintendo Switch version for a PC version, no problem! Please contact us via Kickstarter and we’ll sort this out for you.

Merchandise rewards will be shipping very shortly. The art book, tarot cards and mini posters have all been proofed and are ready to go. We’re still waiting on proof copies of the limited edition physical copy and the original soundtrack CDs. All of these items are manufactured in the USA, and there are various shipping restrictions in place at the moment. As soon as we have proof copies in our hands and we approve them, we’ll begin shipping to backers!

We want to extend a huge thanks to you, our patient backers!

Although the game has taken a little longer to produce than intended, we’re very, very happy with the finished product. We even managed to sneak a little extra in than originally planned - the voice acting is phenomenal and we’re confident it will blow you away. Plus, the original theme song performed by Emi Evans and Alec Shea is mind-meltingly cool.

We sincerely hope you enjoy the game on release day! Thank you for your ongoing support!

Emi Evans performs ‘Strange Flower,’ the CORPSE FACTORY OP [Composed by Alec Shea]
about 4 years ago – Wed, Mar 30, 2022 at 05:12:49 PM

Emi Evans has lent her extraordinary vocal and lyrical talents to CORPSE FACTORY! Emi is well known for her work on a multitude of game soundtracks, including Nier: Automata, Dark Souls and Granblue Fantasy. In addition to game music, she has even performed on Star Wars: Visions!

Composed by Alec Shea, and with lyrics written and performed by Emi Evans, ‘Strange Flower’ will serve as the opening theme for CORPSE FACTORY. It’s a dark, hauntingly beautiful track that truly emcompasses the motifs of the game.

You can pre-order the game’s original soundtrack today and it will become available for digital download once the game releases! Or, pre-save it on Spotify:

On the subject of the game’s release, we know you’re all waiting with baited breath for a release date announcement!

We’re putting the final touches on the PC version of the game. During March, we ironed out the issues with gamepad controls and have nearly finished compiling the final build. We’ll be submitting the build to Steam very shortly for approval.

We should be able to share a concrete release date in our next update! We’re currently fixing a few small issues with the Nintendo Switch build, so chances are that this version of the game may be released a little later than the PC version. We’ll share more news on this as soon as we have it.

See you in the next update!

February Update + Something Cool Coming Soon!
about 4 years ago – Mon, Feb 28, 2022 at 03:26:40 AM

As we dive into the final steps of development, we’re super excited to share our progress for the month. Let’s take a look at what we achieved during February!

  • Our entire voice cast has finished recording, and we’ve edited and implemented their performances into the game. We need to finalize a handful of line retakes, but this should be wrapped up quickly! It’s such a thrill playing through the game now that it is voiced!
  • Our PC build for the game is shaping up well. We spent the month trying to improve performance and squash a couple of lingering bugs. If all goes well, we’ll be able to spend some time next month focusing on developing Steam-specific features, such as achievements and cloud saves.
  • Our Nintendo Switch build is coming along nicely! There’s a lot more to consider when developing for this platform. The hardware is a little more restrictive than PC, so we’ve spent a lot of time optimizing game assets (graphics, music, voice) to ensure the game performs well on this console. We’re still working on ironing out a few things - there are a couple of inconsistencies with Joy-Con controls that we’re trying to smooth out right now.

In other news:

We’re working with a very talented (and very famous) singer to produce a brand new song in collaboration with our composer, Alec Shea. This is a BIG deal, and I think you’re all going to love it. You’re in for a real treat when we drop the final track soon… For now, we need to remain tight-lipped, but keep an eye (or an ear) on our social pages in the coming weeks.

January Update + Voiced Story Trailer
about 4 years ago – Wed, Jan 26, 2022 at 06:54:30 PM

Let's kick off this update with a brand new sizzling story trailer. Prepare to have your breath taken away as Noriko (Erika Harlacher) introduces you to the world of CORPSE FACTORY.

Pretty haunting, right?

Read on to learn about how development on the game is shaping up!

We’re nearly at the finish line, which is both immensely exciting and nerve-wracking.

Most of our cast members have finished recording their lines. We’ve been diving into editing and implementing their voices into the game. It’s a time-consuming process, but the end result is absolutely excellent!

We’re also working on getting the Nintendo eShop page for the game ready. Once this goes live, you’ll be able to add it to your Nintendo wishlist and (hopefully!) pre-order it if you didn’t back the Kickstarter. We’re applying for an age classification rating, which may take a little more time to be approved.

Important note: This week is your last chance to finish your BackerKit survey if you haven’t already. We’re going to be locking orders, meaning you won’t be able to adjust details after January 30th.

If you’ve ordered extra add-ons through BackerKit, your card will be charged after January 30th.

If you have any questions about the surveys, please send us a message and we’ll get back to you.

Thanks for reading!

Until next time…!

More incredible voice actors join the cast!
over 4 years ago – Mon, Dec 27, 2021 at 10:52:28 PM

The end of the year is just around the corner, and we're looking forward to 2022. After all, it's the year that CORPSE FACTORY will lurch forth from the morgue and devour your attention!

Today, we're happy to announce the rest of the game's cast. You'll remember last month that we revealed Erika Harlacher, Brianna Knickerbocker and Sean Chiplock in the roles of Noriko, Aoi, and Shinya, respectively. Read on to find out the rest of our casting choices!

Aleks Le as Kojiro, our favorite creepy morgue attendant.

Notable roles: Demon Slayer (Zenitsu),  Astral Chain (Akira), Street Fighter V (Luke).

Faye Mata as Tomoe, the super-mean gal girl.

Notable roles: KonoSuba (Aqua), JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure (Yukako), Fire Emblem: Three Houses (Petra).

Kaiji Tang as Junpei, a super-secret character we haven't even announced yet!

Notable roles: Yakuza: Like a Dragon (Ichiban), Jujutsu Kaisen (Satoru), Danganronpa (Gonta, Yasuhiro).

The roles above round out our main cast. For our supporting cast, we decided to go all out and continue to work with the best talent in the business!

Anairis Quiñones as Emi.

Notable roles: My Hero Academia (Mirko), Re:ZERO (Echidna).

Lizzie Freeman as Yuriko, Momo.

Notable roles: Genshin Impact (Yanfei), JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure (Trish)

June Yoon as Detective Fujikawa.

Notable roles: SMITE (Nemesis Soul Slayer, Izanami Clown), Eternal Return (Jenny).

Alec Shea as Kenji.

Notable roles: Skyhill (Protagonist), Lovesick Darlings (Syd)

Whew!

While our talented cast record their lines, our development team has been continuing to make progress. We've finalized the game's choices and endings, and we're working on quality-of-life improvements that make playing the game a breeze.

Before we wrap up this update, a little note on the game's release date!

CORPSE FACTORY was tentatively slated for a January 2022 release. Due to the addition of voice acting, we've pushed this back a bit. When we have a more concrete date, we'll be sure to share it here.

Additionally, the Nintendo Switch version of the game might take a little bit longer. This is uncertain at this stage, but we want to be upfront about the possibility. Nintendo's approval processes are quite lengthy, and we can't submit a final build of the game for approval until all our voice acting is complete.

Depending on the time it takes for Nintendo to approve the final build, we may have to release the Switch version after the PC version. Again, any news on this will be shared here first. We appreciate your patience!

That's it for now! We'll see you again next month!
