PART ONE - How is development progressing?

Development continues to proceed smoothly. No major road bumps or incidents this month! The areas outlined in bold below have seen an improvement since last month.

Character Art - 100% complete

Event/CG Art - 100% complete

Original Soundtrack - 100% complete

Script - 95% complete

Background Art - 100% complete(Finished!)

Programming - 75% complete

Visual Effects - 70% complete

Audio Effects - 70% complete

Mystery! - 10% complete

I’m sure you’ve been curious about the little mystery section we included in last month’s update. This is a major announcement that we hope to reveal within the next few weeks. All the pieces are in place, and we’re just waiting on a few tiny little things to be set into motion before we make the official announcement.

Want a clue?

Maybe we’re making one of the Kickstarter stretch goals happen… even though we didn’t quite meet the funding.

You’ll just have to wait and see!

Our background artist has finished the final background for the game. Due to spoilers, we can’t show it off  in this update, but now the artist can take a well-earned break while we work on the rest of the game.

PART TWO - Character profile: Tomoe Watanabe

Tomoe’s a fighter, through and through. She’s strong, opinionated, unapologetic and has a foul mouth. She’s a Japanese ‘gyaru’ (gal) girl - armed with a fake tan, bleached blonde hair, long nails and over-the-top clothes.

Thanks to her overbearing personality and stand-out look, Tomoe doesn’t really fit in anywhere. She definitely doesn’t seem to fit the standard look of an office worker, yet she’s a corporate employee just like Noriko.

Something about Noriko rubs her the wrong way. Tomoe can’t help but instigate conflict whenever they bump into each other in the office. This has created an overwhelming level of tension between the two.

As is usually the case, there’s more to Tomoe than meets the eye. Why does she hate Noriko so much? Why is she so quick to jump to violence?

Perhaps you’ll dig a bit into Tomoe’s life during the course of the game. And maybe - just maybe - you’ll find that she’s not actually as bad as she seems on the surface...

PART THREE - Screenshot showcase

Feast your eyes on a selection of new screenshots of the game in action!

That’s all for this month’s development log! Be sure to stay tuned for our next update at the end of November.

PART ONE - How is development progressing?

Development is speeding along at a rapid pace. The areas outlined in bold below have seen an improvement since last month.

Character Art - 100% complete

Event/CG Art - 100% complete

Original Soundtrack - 100% complete

Script - 95% complete

Background Art - 98% complete (Just one background left to go!)

Programming - 70% complete

Visual Effects - 60% complete

Audio Effects - 60% complete

Mystery...! - ??% complete

[We've been working on something top-secret this month... Can't wait to share it with you soon!]

With only one background illustration left to complete, we're about ready to finish that important part of the project.

In addition, the second character route is nearly complete. If you'd like a hint as to who you'll be accompanying during the second section of the game, check out the screenshots down below...

PART TWO - Character profile: Aoi Satou

What can we say about Aoi without giving you the wrong impression...?

She's shy. Painfully so. She's conversationally awkward, even more than Kojiro.

She leans on her best friend, Noriko, a little too much. Her reliance tends to strain the friendship, which makes things even more awkward for her.

She's innocent at heart, but those who know her get the impression she's been through a lot of awful things in the past. Only Noriko truly knows the cause of the pain behind Aoi's smile.

Though she's tied up in Noriko's life thanks to their years of friendship, there's another reason that she soon gets involved in Corpse Girl's awful business...

 PART THREE - Background showcase

Here is a selection of backgrounds completed this month. Many of these backgrounds feature variants that display different times of day - early morning, evening, late night, etc.

That’s all for this month’s development log! Be sure to stay tuned for our next update at the end of October.

Welcome to the second development log for CORPSE FACTORY. August has been a bumper month so far, full of progress and achievements.

PART ONE - How is development progressing?

Development is going smoothly. The areas outlined in bold below have seen an improvement since last month.

Character Art - 100% complete

Event/CG Art - 100% complete

Original Soundtrack - 100% complete

Script - 95% complete

Background Art - 90% complete

Programming - 60% complete

Visual Effects - 50% complete

Audio Effects - 40% complete

Our background artist has been hard at work finalizing the last few illustrations required for the full game. Check out the art showcase down below for a sneak peek!

On the programming side, we managed to fully complete the largest and most important character route in the game. With that done, we can tackle the other smaller routes one-by-one.

PART TWO - Character profile: Kojiro

Kojiro is everybody’s favorite morgue attendant. He’s aloof, awkward, and alien.

He’s been exposed to the harsh fluorescent lights of the morgue more often than natural sunlight. To say this has had an impact on his personality would be an understatement. He’d rather talk to cadavers than talk to the living.

After reading about Corpse Girl’s website, he begins to idolize the idea behind it. He has more than a passing obsession with the dead, and Corpse Girl seems to be just his kind of role model.

Is he a morbid person? Yeah. Very much so.

Is he evil or dangerous? That’s a hard question to answer.

CORPSE FACTORY paints many characters in a fuzzy gray light. Whose actions can truly be called just or unjust?

PART THREE - Background showcase

Here is a selection of backgrounds completed this month. Many of these backgrounds feature variants that display different times of day - early morning, evening, late night, etc.

That’s all for this month’s development log! Be sure to stay tuned for our next update at the end of September.

Development Log #1 - July
almost 3 years ago – Wed, Jul 28, 2021 at 12:37:40 AM

Welcome to the first in a series of regular articles designed to chronicle the development of CORPSE FACTORY. In this article, I’ll be highlighting some of the development progress made during July. Be sure to check out the latest screenshots and artwork below!

PART ONE - How is development progressing?

Development is cracking along at a rapid pace! I can share the following statistics with you:

Character Art - 100% complete

Event/CG Art - 100% complete

Original Soundtrack - 100% complete

Script - 95% complete

Background Art - 70% complete

Programming - 50% complete

Visual Effects - 40% complete

Audio Effects - 40% complete

Now, these are some pretty impressive figures for our first update! But, please bear in mind that CORPSE FACTORY was in development for at least a year before we hit Kickstarter. Because of that, we have a good head start.

Our focus this month was on producing background art and programming. Thanks to some splendid efforts from our BG artist, I’ve managed to put together a little art showcase down below.

PART TWO - Character profile: Noriko Kurosawa

Noriko is our cunning and manipulative protagonist. Known online as Corpse Girl, she runs a website from the shadows that allows users to request the deaths of other people. Her motive and reasons for running such a depraved website? You’ll just have to listen to her side of the story to find that out...

Most of your time spent within CORPSE FACTORY will be presented from Noriko’s point of view. Whether that’s a good or a bad thing is up to you to decide - you may find that you begin to sympathize with her morals!

She pairs her quick wit with a sharp tongue and often rubs people the wrong way. Because of this, it’s not surprising that she makes a few enemies.

 PART THREE - Background showcase

Here is a selection of backgrounds completed this month. Many of these backgrounds feature variants that display different times of day - early morning, evening, late night, etc.

That’s all for this month’s development log! It’s only a taste of the things to come. Be sure to stay tuned for our next update at the end of August.
